Welcome to the Website of the Institute for Experimental Tumor Research

The Institute for Experimental Tumor Research (IET) was founded in 2009 at the Medical Faculty of Christian Albrechts University (CAU) in Kiel. Currently, six research groups are part of the Institute. Together, they cover a broad spectrum of oncological research in terms of content and methodology and deal with different topics in experimental tumor research.

The many years of close cooperation with the Clinic for General Surgery, Visceral Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Transplantation and Pediatric Surgery at the UKSH Campus Kiel are reflected in a large number of joint research projects. The Institute thus represents an important interface between experimental and translational research and between laboratory and clinic.

Thus, the IET also offers an attractive environment for the education and training of young scientists.

Die Mitarbeiter des IET

The oncological biobank at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Kiel is operated jointly by the Clinic for General Surgery, Visceral Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Transplantation and Pediatric Surgery and the Institute for Pathology, and is a member of the central Biobank Network P2N of the Medical Faculty.

The IET maintains close cooperation with a large number of institutes and clinics as well as with the imaging center MOIN-CC. The IET is also involved in the Cluster of Excellence 'Inflammation at Interfaces' and is a leading member of the Kiel Oncology Network (KON), a platform of the Kiel Life Science Research Center (KLS).
